HumanGood Foundation offers donors the opportunity to support the mission of HumanGood in three areas:

  • Life Plan Communities (also known as Continuing Care Retirement Communities)
  • Affordable Housing
  • HumanGood Special Initiatives

Life Plan Communities

HumanGood is one of the largest nonprofit providers of senior living communities in the United States. The right home makes for a life well lived. Life plan communities offer exceptional residential living and a spectrum of care that includes assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care as residents’ health care needs change. Philanthropic opportunities to help us enhance the lives of those we serve in these communities include:

Resident Benevolence Fund—Sometimes residents outlive their financial resources and cannot pay the full amount of their monthly fees. This fund supports those residents so they can remain in their homes.

Employee Educational Assistance Fund—Donations to this fund go to support team members who wish to further their education and advance their careers.

Affordable Housing

HumanGood operates 63 affordable housing communities located throughout the western United States. Developed in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, these communities provide economical alternatives for very-low-income seniors under HUD’s Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program. We are redefining affordable housing for the more than 4,000 older adults who call a HumanGood community their home. The HumanGood Foundation manages several funds whose purpose is to enhance the lives of these older adults:

  • Affordable Housing Grant Fund – Regulated by HUD, HumanGood affordable housing provides superior housing but sometimes needs additional funding to support resident programs, transportation and other essential services. This fund supports HumanGood affordable housing with those needs through grants approved by the HumanGood Foundation.
  • Affordable Housing Resident Assistance Fund – On occasion, an affordable housing resident may have an emergency and need financial assistance to pay a utility bill or medical expenses. This fund supports residents who cannot afford to do so when other emergencies may have negatively impacted their limited budget.

HumanGood Special Initiatives

In addition to supporting HumanGood’s affordable housing and life plan communities, the HumanGood Foundation manages several funds corporately whose purpose is to enhance the lives of older adults and the team members who serve them. They include:

  • Innovations Fund—One of HumanGood’s core beliefs is that innovation is essential to achieving our mission.  This fund provides financial resources to bring innovative ideas to life.
  • Memory Care Programming Fund—HumanGood’s social (rather than medical) model for caring for those with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia is innovative and always looking to provide creative programming to support these residents.  This fund supports creative programming ideas not funded through routine operating budgets.
  • Social Responsibility Fund—HumanGood understands it has a social responsibility to the wider communities in which it operates.  This funds supports specific programs or services which advance HumanGood’s mission and are awarded in partnership with another organization (e.g., Alzheimer’s Association).
  • Troy Keach Team Member Crisis Fund—HumanGood team members sometimes find themselves in a financial crisis due to events such as an apartment fire or car accident, or to pay funeral expenses for a loved one. This fund supports those team members in crisis once their grant request is approved by an independent committee of fellow team members.
  • Thomas Beatson Type 1 Diabetes Fund—Thomas Beatson, a former resident at a HumanGood community, lived with Type 1 Diabetes the last 75 years of his life.  He established this fund to support fellow residents, team members and their dependent children afflicted with Type 1 Diabetes so they could obtain the equipment needed to manage their disease and enhance their lives.
